Traveling home from WBT
Today we began our trip home from the WBT conference. We had a blast, and we are so excited to start using it with our new kids. I really learned a lot, and I will be going back next year. I also signed up to be a WBT Site Leader at our Kerr. I'm excited about the opportunity, and I am excited about the opportunity it brings to our school and students.
On our way home today, we stopped at Gators & Friends in Louisiana. We even held an alligator.

WBT Day 3
Today is the last day of the conference, and I'm said to leave teacher heaven. Everyone here has the idea in mind, funtricity!!! We talked about oral writing along with critical thinking writing. I am going to have so much fun with this in my class this year. I can't wait to see what my students can do with WBT writing at the end of the year. I will definitely be coming again next year to the WBT conference.
After the conference we had dinner at Cajun Landing. We also went to the Museum of Art, and we took a picture with the giant crawfish.

WBT conference day 2
Today was a great day at the WBT conference. Today we went over the 5 step lesson plan. It is simple, and I love using it. You can get writing and your exit ticket in with steps 4 (Quick Test - QT) along with step 5 (advanced critical thinking writing). We also got to take a group picture with Coach B in our cool pink Oklahoma WBT shirt.
In the evening we enjoyed a nice dinner with about 25 Oklahoma Whole Brain Teachers. It was nice to hear how they use WBT at their schools. It was also great to just networks and get ideas for the upcoming school year.

WBT conference Day 1
Today was our first day at the WBT conference here in Louisiana. It was very enjoyable, and I feel everyone got something out of it. I even learned new things I didn't know or know well before. The electricity in the crowd was amazing, and I think my colleagues are pumped for the upcoming school year. I'm really excited also. It was also great to finally meet Coach B in person, and it was nice to meet Nancy.
After the conference, we visited Kent Plantation. It was interesting to learn about the history.
Let's rest and get ready for day 2.

Then we stopped at the Texas-Louisiana state line. Finally we stopped at the Giant mailbox in Frierson, LA. It is from the show Bayou Billionaires. We even got to meet the people on the show.

WBT Book Review
If you haven't already purchased your WBT books, then you need to head over to Amazon to get yours today.
I came across WBT a few years ago, and I must say it has improved my classroom environment and student engagement by 90%. Whole Brain Teaching for Challenging Kids is a great book to have as it guides you through the steps of implementing it into your classroom. Not only does it give you steps, but it gives you scenario to what it should look like. Many of my colleagues have borrowed my book, and then ended up buying their own.
After reading WBT For Challenging Kids, I was excited to be teaching in my classroom. My students were happy and enjoying learning. I was excited to hear about Whole Brain Teaching 122 Amazing a Games. I knew I had to have it, and was I right. This book is a great addition to the first book. As this book has 122 games (academic, classroom management., and just plain fun), that I can use in my classroom. For example, I know that with the scoreboard game (which you use all year) my students will not get board with all the variations the offer.

Ch 15 assignment
Chapter 15: Super Improver Team
Evaluate the strengths and weakness of the Super Improvers Team as applied to weak, intermediate, and academically advanced students. Include a note evaluating the Super Improvers Team’s possible effectiveness with extremely challenging students.
The Super Improvers Team is a great opportunity for the academically weak students. Those are the ones I work with every day. The Super Improvers Team allows them to improver academically with individual attainable goals they can reach. With them reaching goals and begin recognized for them, it will hopefully build their self esteem.
With intermediate students, the Super Improvers Team provides the opportunity to establish goals that are challenging, yet attainable. I think they would stand to see the most progress with this system. They might be those students who have the potential to achieve more, but they are the group of students that seem to "blend in". With the Super Improver Team, they would hopefully feel encouraged as well as motivated to do the best they can.
For academically advanced students, the Super Improvers Team would be beneficial as well. These students will have to work just as hard as the academically weak students to reach their goals. The Super Improver Team is a motivator for them though as most are highly competitive. In most cases it might take them longer to advance up the Super Improver Team.
The Super Improver Team gives extremely challenging students the option of choosing a goal he or she would like to attain. With the Super Improver Team extremely challenging students can be given both academic and behavioral improvement goals. At the beginning of the year the teacher and student can conference and make a list of goals. This list is what the challenging student can choose to work on to earn stars.
